RES,
the leader in enabling, automating and securing digital workspaces,
today announced the addition of enterprise automation to its RES
ONE Workspace solution. The company also announced its RES
ONE Workspace Core product, a freemium user environment management
(UEM) offering that will be available beginning July 2016. Also as part
of the company’s surge of product development activity, RES announced
the immediate availability of enhancements to RES ONE Workspace, which
include new features for workspace security, desktop transformation,
cloud-related projects and worker productivity.
RES ONE Workspace creates a container for hybrid workspaces that enables
delivery of a personal and context-aware workspace for each member of
the workforce, for maximum security and productivity. This allows IT to
deliver applications of all types – physical, virtual and SaaS – with
granular security controls and automated services to reduce manual
intervention and better mitigate access risks. The result is more
personal technology experience for the workforce, while giving IT the
controls to increase security and reduce cost.
“As our customers know, delivering a true digital workspace solution
requires automation,” said Bob Janssen, founder, chief technology
officer and senior vice president of RES. “This has been the RES vision
from the beginning, and it’s why we’ve offered our RES
ONE Automation product for years. Now, we’ve incorporated this
proven automation technology directly into RES ONE Workspace as one of
its four product modules: Automation, Composition, Security and
Governance. It’s easier than ever for IT to deploy, manage and secure
digital workspaces that are modern and will delight users.”
RES also announced its RES ONE Workspace Core product, which will
provide a freemium, basic UEM solution upon its release, expected in
July 2016.
“RES ONE Workspace Core is a response to requests from many RES partners
for a better way to implement and manage hybrid and VDI desktop
deployments: virtual, physical and cloud. By providing an easy entry
point into powerful UEM, customers will quickly recognize and realize
the value of digital workspace projects,” said Stacy Leidwinger, vice
president of products at RES. “This freemium offering from RES should
become a key part of all VDI or other workspace transformation
opportunities. It helps customers adopt this technology more broadly,
and quickly experience the benefits of granular control over the
composition, governance, security and automation of the digital
workspace.”
RES ONE Workspace Core will offer more advanced functionality than is
currently available from similar solutions from technology platform
vendors. The key capabilities of RES ONE Workspace Core will include:
-
Device-based workspace container support
-
Session-based folder synchronization
-
Managed user settings and preferences (including Start menu), and data
sources
-
Context awareness controls at a global level
-
Managed basic and advanced location and device settings (e.g., for
printers, drives and application settings)
-
Zero-profiling support, saving user settings at the global level
-
Citrix, VMWare and Microsoft integration support
-
Instant Reports (for supportability)
